The brothers, Benjamin, James and Joseph Singleton, were all involved to varying degrees in establishing watermills in New South Wales in the early 1800s.

James owned the land where the following mills were built and probably played a major role in the establishment of these mills:

-- The Nagles Creek Mill near Wisemans Ferry,
-- The Dillons Creek Mill near Wisemans Ferry,
-- The Laybury Creek Mill near Wisemans Ferry.
